Black Grey Hounds Rescue

Imagine if someone overlooked you because of the colour of your hair. This is what is happening to the black greyhounds.

As you may or may not know, retired racing greyhounds make wonderful pets -- they shed very little, have no doggy odour, are quiet and well mannered and don't need a lot of exercise (they are affectionately called 40 mph couch potatoes). They all have a special and beautiful spirit.

Did you know that approximately 20,000 greyhounds get killed every year in the U.S. because they are no longer profitable racers? There is a group near London Ontario called GRA Canada that adopts retired racers from a racing track in New Hampshire and places them in loving Canadian homes.

For whatever reason, the black greyhounds have typically been the slowest to get adopted. I don't know why because the black greyhounds have such shiny beautiful fur (I think people sometimes pick their dog like they pick their shoes.) GRA has been hesitant to bring more black greys over to Canada for fear that no one will adopt them. They have however, started a separate program with the racing track to try to find loving homes for the black greyhounds waiting at the track RIGHT NOW.

Please go to the link below and take a look at the black greyhounds that are waiting in New Hampshire for permanent homes. All you have to do is contact them and let them know you are interested and they will arrange for your black grey to be shipped to you for adoption.

Without your help, all these healthy black greys will be put down within the next couple of months. How often do you get a direct opportunity to save an animal from being put to death?

Please forward this to anyone you know who may be able to get a black greyhound a second chance at a happy life.

Thank you.
